Richard Nicoll’s debut menswear collection for SS13 sought to give you the ultimate in relaxed modern man chillaxing by the sea somewhere ridiculously chic. In a palette of navy, pastel and cobalt blues, greys, whites and even sunshine yellow the entire collected had an almost New England feel to it.
It was elegant, clean and classical in that wonderfully casual way. The patchwork shirts mixed in with chalky buttery-soft leather. Jackets were almost blouson.
Plain and graphic printed jerseys looked like comfy hugs to wear. And vibrant colour blocked cashmere knits sat underneath jacquard macs, bombers and Harrington jackets.
These were the kind of clothes you’d want to wear when sun kissed in Palm Springs post-pool dip – just as you settle in for sunset cocktails somewhere beyond fabulous. A truly wondrous debut.
p.s. Jonathan Saunders was watching the show, as you might see in a lot of the photos above – he’s the one in the blue jumper at the back. I think i'm a bit in love with him.
